At dawn of a particular morning, it was day one of a new era in Jetstar’s technology development and Steven was raring to go. Jetstar was ready to transform our customer’s experience by being the first airline to partner Changi Airport to launch the new Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST) self-service check-in at Terminal 1.

As an IT and technology expert, he was working with multiple stakeholders across the business and suppliers to enhance our customer journey and employee’s experience. Wherever he turned, from crew to management, airport managers to product specialists, there was always someone to support and advise. He'd never felt so excited – or confident.

Innovation is a huge part of Jetstar's future and big challenges lay ahead, but one thing excited Steven more than anything, he was going to be part of a bigger team to bring to life these first mover experiences.

The adrenaline rush

As Steven watched the passengers at the queue getting impatient, he started to understand how his work significantly impacted the business.

He was worried about how long the system maintenance would take as the queue at the counters started to get longer.  Our staff had to manually check-in the passengers with the system outage. The anxiety, experience and waiting was intense.

Steven took a deep breath. The system resumed functionality within 30 minutes, the queue gradually cleared and our passengers were happy again. Jetstar's future in digital technology was going to be an exhilarating ride, and was one he wasn't going to miss.
