The adrenaline rush

Marie looked closely at the operations board and then at her watch. They have three aircrafts stuck in Manila and time is clocking. She started to imagine the possible impact if the aircrafts did not return to Singapore.

She’d heard about the closure of the main runway in Manila and all flights in and out will be delayed. Her heart was racing but Marie knew she needed to step up to lead the team to focus on keeping the operations running with minimal network impact to operations and passengers. Now, all hands were on deck in getting it done. With confidence, the team nailed it. After all, she had a talented team who could think on their feet.

Flights were changing by the minute but this is what she loved – quick reactions, planning under pressure. Just watching the Operations and Control Centre at work was an adrenaline rush. The weather could change in a split-second so their decision-making had to as well. The pressure of the department, as they called it, wasn't for everyone, but this was where Marie thrived.

The sense of achievement

With the Operations and Control Centre in full swing, Marie tried to keep two steps ahead. As Jetstar's operations supervisor, she had a lot of responsibility but knew she could handle it.

That is the great thing about Jetstar. For someone who is motivated and prepared to put in hard work like her, there are no limits. She feels proud that she plays a part in Jetstar being amongst the Top 10 safest low cost carriers in the world and had been awarded the most punctual low cost carrier in the Asia Pacific for several years in a row.

As another flight change comes in, Marie rolled up her jacket sleeves. 'Right', she thought to herself… 'This is where the real fun starts…'
