Going an extra mile

Kevin still couldn’t believe it as he walked up the stage to receive his award amidst rapturous applause from his colleagues.

‘I had a fall yesterday, and landed on my right knee. I’m not able to lift my right leg. This morning, the pain hit, and I can hardly walk’, was all that was said in the message he received. Kevin knew the sender, a department colleague needed medical attention but she was alone at home. Without hesitation, Kevin immediately hopped into a taxi and went straight to her house to send her to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment.

Being recognized for going an extra mile was one thing, but to win a Jetstar Bravo Award had left him speechless. He collected the award personally, looked at his award voucher and started to dream about the destinations he can go. Giving recognition to employees like this is what makes Jetstar special.

A clear choice

Keeping good On-Time-Performance (OTP) and strong safety standards need to co-exist to make an airline successful. This is something Kevin strongly believes in and he wanted to join an airline that had a strong legacy in both. It was not an easy feat but Jetstar made it simple for him. The fact that the organisation was amongst the Top 10 safest low cost carriers in the world and had won awards for being the most punctual low cost carrier in the Asia Pacific made it a clear choice.

To date, Kevin still believes he made the right choice joining the airline as he witnessed the airline continue to fare well in OTP and safety standards. He knows that behind the success, is the strong collaboration amongst the work teams. Wherever he turned, there was always someone considering safety in all matters. He'd never felt so excited – or confident.
